Allegedly the NRA chief told the dumbunnyjacka** "prez" that "background checks won't work for you. Your base won't support you". TRUE?.
Any chump base folks out there who will abandon him if he does anything about legislating background checks for guns? Does the Wayne La Pierre of the NRA speak for you what's true?
Why would I want to stop him? I'm doing my job. I point out what he does/says/is. I wash my hands of anything else. This is a full-time job. Thank you for your reply! :)
I can't speak for the majority of NRA members ... but I've never heard any in Oregon or Washington "fight" background checks.
I've bought firearms in Oregon and Washington ... both states required background checks to purchase handguns. A couple years ago, they changed the law to require background checks on ANY firearm transfers. So if I loan a rifle to a friend for hunting, legally I am required to run a background check on them (through the state police).
Both states also have the same background checks regardless where you purchase a firearm. In other words, there is no "gun show loophole".
Both states are also "shall issue" for concealed carry permits. They require background checks on anyone who applies for such permit, and require you to take a firearms safety course.
I have no idea. Unless ... there is no time limit on the background check.
EG: In Oregon/Washington, the gun dealer calls for the background check. Usually, they get the response in a few minutes. If the computers are down or something, they have to get a response in 3 days. If they do not get a response in 3 days - the sale goes through automatically.
So, if there was no time limit ... the dealer could call for a background check, and be told there is a "backlog" - and the sale could theoretically be blocked forever. (Sort of like how there is a "backlog" on immigration hearings, now.)
