Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Everything is on a sliding scale relative to where you are at the time you measure. At what age did you realize you are old?
When you were 16 or 30 or 50 might you have considered being almost 74 old? Thank you for your reply L. I remember when my mom was 40 she told me that unless she looked in the mirror she felt like she was 16. I thought she was stretching it a lot but she was right once again. At almost 82 I feel like I did when I was many decades younger only better because whatever weight problem I had disappeared when I reached my mid-30's. I'm in much better shape now and feel very peppy and energetic and healthy. Now are there days when something hurts? Of course. But they are infrequent and short-lived so I count my blessings. As long as Jim and I have a good quality of life and can take care of ourselves and each other and not be a burden to anyway we're sailing through life! Thank you for your reply L! :) You still planning to move to Pennsylvania to be nearer your relatives?
When I was 16 or 30, 74 seemed ancient. :) I think not feeling old has a lot to do with your outlook on life. There are people much younger than I that are "old." Continuing to work, being in contact with people of all ages and being interested in the world around you keeps you on your toes. It also keeps you from focusing on your aches and pains so you can enjoy life. Fortunately, I can still take care of myself and get out of bed under my own steam, so life is good. Yes, when I retire I would like to move down to PA. I'm tired of the rat race that is NYC and all the noise.
