Have you given up traditional deodorant with aluminum because it's been linked to breast and other cancers?

How's that working out for you? Do you go around saying "Be honest, do I stink?"

Asking for a friend....

That sounds messy! Do you mix it with water like you do for a bee sting?

Nope.  Just slap about a teaspoonful under each pit. Not messy.  No smell either.  Just don't put it on right after pit is shaved. It is salt, after all.

  • Yep. I don't use deodorants with aluminum in them, although it was not for that reason; I stopped because aluminum-containing deodorant stains clothes.

I didn't know that. I always thought pit-stains were just from seriously sweaty people.

I prefer the dry spray kind, but all of them appear to have aluminum. :(

They all have crap in them that don't belong on your skin.

    I'm sure.
I bought some with essential oils, all organic (allegedly). So far, so good... I think. My dogs aren't avoiding me, at least. :P

Why do you think you need deodorant? You don't like your own smell?

Not sweaty body odor smell, no. I know that some people don't mind it and some actually like it. I don't, so I don't want to smell like that.

I remember a friend of mine in jr. high didn't use deodorant, or enough deodorant. It was uncomfortable, because as her friend, we thought she should know, but no one wanted to tell her. Someone put some "Secret" in her locker. She started using it, I guess.

No. So many things are purported to cause cancer that I can't avoid them all. Cancer runs in my family and unless I get hit by a bus, I fully expect to die from it one day. I want to smell good when it happens.

I became allergic to deodorant when I was 39.  I just use alcohol twice a day and have no problems.  If I had known how much better it was that the deodorant product I would have used it forever.  Cheap.  Thrifty.  ;)
