I have always disliked that statement as it degrades my profession. How about this: 'Those that teach should be able to do, but those who can do might not be able to teach.' No absolutes.

I've told you this a bazillion times over the years E. I think teaching is the most noble profession. I always have thought that since I was little girl. I am blessed that my son became a college professor. Anyone that maligns teachers does so at their peril if I am around. Teachers who were kind and caring helped me come out of my shell. Without them I honestly don't know how I would have made it through school. At least during the early years. Painfully Shy. Skipping grades which made me younger than everyone and the class "oddball". Just what I needed to make me feel really terrible. In junior college my Philosophy Professor challenged all of us every class to fight for things that made sense to us even if no one agreed. Boy did I ever need that!. I'm preaching to the choir so please forgive me. The statement that teachers can't do is a lie so there's that.  He didn't teach me what to think. He encouraged me to learn how to think more effectively. Thank you for your reply Teach! :) This post was edited by RosieG at August 30, 2019 12:51 PM MDT

I had a friend in college taking the same classes as me to become a chemistry teacher. She needed a part job during the summer and applied for one as a bottle washer and bulk chemical mixer at a chemical company. She was so good they made her a full time chemist. She got married later and moved to Columbus as a chemistry teacher.
