I have always dreamed of traveling the world but my family throws a fit if I suggest going away for more that a couple of months, even though they are all invited.
Interesting...I never had any life-long dreams.
Well, I would first ask myself if my family was really looking out for my best interests (financial and safety issues). If they are just the sort of people that tend to be controlling of what you do, follow your heart. Be sure you can do this traveling without needing their assistance though. Good luck.
