The AR 15 is apparently the weapon of choice of the mass murderer mass slaughterer mass wackadoodle white nationalist. Do you own one? Why?

    Nope ... I couldn't afford one in .308 caliber.
Plus, I'd rather have an H&K or FAL.

So where are these killers getting the money?

    Typical AR15 is around $500 to $700.
Probably less expensive, if you go to a pawn shop.

Given the short distances most mass shootings take place at ... the shooters could just as easily use .22 caliber handguns.
    Or a .22 Kel-Tek with a 50 or 100 round magazine.
And it would be far less expensive.

So they're pricey then Walt? How pricey? $1000 or more? What is an H&K or FAL? I'm not knowledgeable about guns so those letter are meaningless. Where and how would you use one? Thank you for your reply! :)

    H&K - Heckler & Koch, a German firearms manufacturer.
FAL - French "Fusil Automatique Léger" meaning Light Automatic Rifle is a battle rifle designed by Belgian small arms designers Dieudonné Saive and Ernest Vervier and then manufactured by FN Herstal.

Thank you. So a gun isn't a gun isn't a gun. They vary in purpose and size and cost. I've never priced one so I don't know. I watch Antiques Roadshow and sometimes someone will bring in a BEAUTIFUL old firearm and it can be worth bigly bucks. They have carvings and scrolling and all kinds of fancy dancy things and they are quite lovely. Also I watch that Vegas Pawn Shop show. Same thing there. The beautiful guns aren't meant to be fired though maybe they are usable. They are meant to be displayed. Thank you for your reply Walt! Our son has a couple of rifles. He hunts. :)

Modern style rifles are the most popular rifle sold now.

I do not have one. But I want one...because others do not want me to have one. Also ammo is cheap so fun target shoot with.

You want one because "others" don't want you to have one? Really? I don't know how to respond to that m2c since I cannot relate remotely to you about this issue. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday to thee! :) This post was edited by RosieG at September 4, 2019 8:46 AM MDT

I do the same thing with books.
If somebody wants to ban a book ... I want to buy it.

I can't afford to do that with firearms.  lol

Really Walt? Well I respect your brain but honestly that seems terribly childish and juvenile to me. If I WANTED the book and heard it were going to be banned I'd buy it. But if I never had any intention or desire to buy it the mere fact of making it unavailable would be of zero interest to me. Why it would prompt you to buy it is something for you to know and me to not get at all. Thank you for your reply. Different strokes for different blokes! :) This post was edited by RosieG at September 4, 2019 8:25 AM MDT

It started when I was in high school, and some idiots wanted to ban The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn because of the language regarding "Negro Jim".

It's also partially due to reading Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.
Ironically, that book has been banned in some of the US ... because it mentions that even the Bible was eventually banned.

Usually, I read the book and find out it isn't as "evil" as the media (or organization wanting to ban it) says it is.
Here's a list of some books that have been banned in the US, in addition to the two above:
    Catcher in the Rye
    Where's Waldo
    The Diary of a Young
    Girl (Anne Frank)
    To Kill a Mockingbird
    The Harry Potter series
    Little Red Riding Hood
    Sleeping Beauty
    The Grapes of Wrath
    Harriet the Spy
    Uncle Tom's Cabin

The only one I haven't read among them is Harriet the Spy. I guess I don't track stuff like that Walt. you apparently do. Nothing wrong with doing it. Not my cuppa tea. Thank you for your clarification. I understand you a little bit better because of it! Merci! :) Dropped to let you know I'm asking another question about this issue Walt. Your head's up if you choose to take the assignment. This post was edited by RosieG at September 4, 2019 9:07 AM MDT

I bought the two rap albums in the early 1990s that were banned.  2 Live Crew: Nasty as We Wanna Be and Ice T: Copkiller (Funny he plays cops on TV now)  Just because they banned them. I also had some I bought because the album cover was censored.   I did not even open them.  I lost them moving years ago.
I think they stopped all that because they realized it just made them sale more records.
