What is a FRIEND? In the eye of the beholder? For me it is someone who never betrays you or turns on you. What is it for you?

A friend is someone on whom you can always count to watch your back and be on your side. No exceptions. That is what I think of when I use the word "friend". Is your definition similar or dissimilar? How?

I agree.  A friend is also someone who's there for you when needed (maybe just to listen).  A friend is someone who won't "drop" you just because you "have a bad day".  A friend won't be afraid to offer advice, yet they will never force it on you.

While I may not have many friends, I always try to be a friend. This post was edited by Shuhak at September 8, 2019 1:53 AM MDT

A friend is someone who always has your best interests at heart.  Someone who may criticize you in private, but never in public.  Someone who doesn't judge you although they may disagree with something you've said or done.  A friend is someone you can call at 2 AM when you're feeling low and they will come right over - and bring half gallon of Ben and Jerry's ice cream and two spoons. :)

Word-for-word I agree with thee. Could not have described it better myself L. I've had a few like that and still do. I KNOW you can read between the lines. What flavor ice cream? What size spoons? Tea or Table? Thank you for your thoughtful and spot-on reply m'dear! :)

When it truly matters, that person is THERE.

True. A friend is there when needed and doesn't pull away when things get tough. That's when they hold on tighter. Thank you for your reply Sharon and Happy Sunday! :)
