Potted or otherwise. I've read that plants seem to react to speech. I guess it's the breath of the speaker? But that they SEEM to grow faster and stay healthier if you speak to them each day. Now I'm not a plant person. Never have any in the house. I've never talked to one so I don't know. But have you and is it true? The more you talk to them the better they respond? Magic?

I have 48 plants in my apartment - some on stands, some on windowsills and some hanging.  I don't talk to them  All I do is water them once a week and they are flourishing.  A small table-top plant that one of my former bosses gave to me has been repotted several times and is now three feet tall.  I think it's a matter of getting the right plant for the conditions you have.  Flowering plants need sun, most other plants need good light, and I have a couple that thrive in low light conditions.

All my plants are indoor plants.  Why can't you keep those?

Wow L! Wow! Your apartment must be enormous! How much does the care and feeding of 48 plants take and you water once a week? I'm overwhelemd with that number. I'd have been overwhelmed if you had TEN so you can understand how awed I am. WOW! Thank you for your reply. Not to be a smarta** but do any of them have names? Are any of them related? Did you take a portion of one, pot it and help it grow? Inquiring minds would like to know. My fingers and thumbs are brown. Yours must be very green! :) This post was edited by RosieG at September 9, 2019 7:57 AM MDT

No, my apartment is not enormous, most of the plants are small except for that one really big one I mentioned.  If I'm really ambitious, I will do that all in one day.  If not, I break it up into two days.  I like to bring them into the kitchen sink and make sure they're well-watered so it's back and forth.  The hanging plants are pothos and philodendron, which don't require sun, just light.  I have a couple of begonias, Christmas cacti which bloom in November, a small palm which is not doing so well for some reason.  Yes, I have made cuttings of a couple of plants, but I've also inherited some plants from a dear friend who passed away and her son asked me if I wanted to have them.  A couple came from people at work who couldn't manage to keep them doing well and asked if I could help.  When I got them healthy, they no longer wanted them, so I brought them home.  I am no longer adding to my collection because I just don't have anymore room.
