Other than a difference to a deference, what is the opposite to a similarity of a simile? ~

    The opposite, of course. Nothing you say in your question parses.

    Just because you start out with "if" doesn't square with then what is the opposite.   ?  If you defer to a difference or whatever, it has nothing to do with the opposite of your next definition that is supposed to follow suit.  

    NO. It doesn't even fit.  If and then does not need WHAT IS THE OPPOSITE to make any sense at all.
