Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» How many homo saps are so DESPERATE FOR ACCEPTANCE they are willing to reshape themselves to fit the templates of others?
By nature people want to feel accepted. We're social beings. Unfortunately, being social isn't something that comes naturally to everyone. This can make them feel ostracised and alone. If they try and are discouraged (ridiculed by others), it can make things even worse. That can create a void inside a person. In an effort to fill this void some will try to make themselves more like those they perceive as "accepted" in society. Tragically, this rarely works. They usually end up being sycophants with no moral character.
I think the need to be accepted is MORE INTENSE among some homo saps than among others. I wonder if intelligence has anything to do with it? I'm gonna ask. I was a painfully shy child and wanted nothing more than to be invisible. As a kid I admired those who were "popular" and wondered then as I wonder now what are the ingredients of popular? Even then I analyzed everything all the time and tried to understand whatever puzzled me. I tolerated summer vacation and could hardly wait to get back to school so I could learn more. That alone made me very odd. I'm still odd. I'm not comfy in a crowd and I've never been popular. I think I would not be good at it Shuhak. Thank you for your reply! :)
