I believe I was 11 or 12 when I first saw the movie, and it had a lasting impact on me.

Me too.  I never got to see the movie and I always wanted to.  My parents used to take us to the Drive-In on weekends a lot and I guess we missed this one.  It looked good  in the previews.

The first several chapters of that book were so good and then they got to Narnia and it got .....phuh.

    But GREAT CHOICE there, kiddo.

This is one of my faves! The imagery is amazing and the story is wonderful.
It definitely speaks to the child in me with the fantastical notion of being able to travel to a strange new world through a wardrobe! When I was a kid I used to hide in the closet and engage in all sorts of pretend adventures.  It was more exciting when I visite either of my grandparents who had really old homes. If you can believe this, my the master bedroom in my mom parents house had a secret door which led to a staircase to the attic.
What I would do to be that 6-year-old boy again is on beyond shameful. lol

  • Why don't I know of this movie?  I'm glad you posted it.  I think I should see it.  I love the people who star in it.  Both Caine and Duvall are great if you ask me.  I looked it up and it even has Kyra Sedgewick.  I used to love watching her in "The Closer" on TV.

Haley Joel Osment who stars in this is also the lead in one of my all time favorite movies...Steven Spielberg's "Artificial intelligence".  Not to mention "The Sixth Sense" and "Pay It Forward"

I noticed Osment is depicted in the movie's promotional ad above.  You know what this means don't you?  You have officially posted a twink.  LOL!  Don't try to get out of it.  It counts.  Cause I said so.

Nope. Does not count.  I posted a movie. I do not even know anything about him.

  • REALLY?  Nothing?  LOL!  I don't either.  At least nothing about his personal life.  Really not all that much about his professional work either since obviously I don't know the one you posted.  I'm not sure if he's working all that much anymore.  But now about you posting twinks...

Yes, Osment is working. He is in a new movie called "The Devil Has A Name" and he was in Amazon Prime series "The Boys".
Alas, he has long left the land of Twinksylvania

  • That'll make m2c feel better.  She'll be off the hook due to an age loophole.

I saw him in a movie the other night and could not recognize him.  It was the Ted Budny story and he played Ted Bundy's ex girlfriend's new boyfriend.

I had to look up the credits. I can see it is him now, but I never could figure out who it was.

There was nothing on TV years ago and it was on.  It was really very good.

    Oh...this movie, for sure.
I never see it around anymore but I used to hunker down in front of the TV every time it was broadcast on the local UHF station.

This MGM movie spurred a TV series called "Daktari' which featuring Clarence the cross-eyed lion and his pal, a mischievous Chimp called "Judy".  It was a cute show about Dr. Marsh Tracy, a veterinarian running an animal sanctuary in  Africa along with his daughter Paula, and some cute guy named "Jack" and their adventures,

The Lion in Winter is my favorite movie EVER.

I'll watch Clarence if you watch that one.

This last one here looks like it has some chops.

    I've not seen any.

I guess I saw "Born Free" at some point in my life maybe.

I knew that "Lion in Winter" had some cool music.

(I just realized I answered your question without actually really answering it. Makes me think of another answerMugger's many answers.)

    :)
