I believe in Miracles and Unicorns. Some of you are dismissive of me because neither one is your cuppa tea. WHY?
Why is belief in miracles and unicorns ever a rational reasonable sensible reason to be dismissive of those who do? How do you KNOW they don't exist on some alternate plane?
Everyone is entitled to believe in what they wish.
Personally I don't believe there are unicorns. They didn't make it onto the ark (according to the song by the Irish Rovers - "You'll see green alligators and long necked geese, some humpty-back camels and some chimpanzees, some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born, you're never gonna see no Unicorn.")
Thank you for your reply Shuhak. I've been a believer in Unicorns since I was 16. You know why people don't believe in them? Because UNICORNS are very rare and homo saps frighten them. The TRUE UNICORN is beautiful and pure and innocent and good. That is a threat to many who cannot abide those qualities. Do I know that for a fact? Of course not. But I also don't know for a fact that Heaven exists because I have not yet personally experienced it. However I still envision my version of Heaven and there is no one alive who can prove otherwise to me. So you see I don't mind being looked down upon. It doesn't affect me in any way or change me. I do pity folks though whose imaginations are rigid and lifeless. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday to thy! :)
I have personally seen things I can't explain. I believe there are things that modern science can't explain - but I don't believe that means there is any deity at work.
I believe some mythical creatures may have been the result of lack of scientific understanding, when remains were found. EG: Some medieval farmer finds dinosaur remains, and invents dragons.
I believe in a multiverse. I believe in the possibility of multiple planes/dimensions. And since we don't know if the physics are the same there as here ... what is impossible here, may be common there. And vice-versa.
I believe I told you on another thread before that the May 2003 COVER of SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN magazine is all about "INFINITE EARTHS IN PARALLEL UNIVERSES REALLY EXIST". Pp 41-51 outline 4 levels. That was 16 years ago! So if true then how do you KNOW what exists in other dimensions that we so far have not been able to personally and individually access? The truth is out there somewhat Walt. I have an infinite imagination. It is not rigid or closed to any and all possibilities. Thank you for your thoughtful reply m'dear and Happy Wednesday! :)
Unicorns are mentioned in the Bible nine times in the books of Numbers, Deuteronomy, Job, Psalms, and Isaiah and have become one of the “problematic” creatures referred to in Scripture. From our 21st-century understanding as presented in books and movies, we have come to think of this creature as a beautiful, magical, mythical winged horse. Thus, it has become an excuse for scoffers to dismiss the Bible as a book of fairy tales. However, a closer examination of the word’s origin and original English definition may give us a different picture. So, I also believe in unicorns, just not the ones you do. Do I dismiss you because you believe in a mystical creature? Of course not.
Although English speakers regularly use "miracle" to refer to a broad range of wondrous events, the biblical concept is limited to those not explainable solely by natural processes but which require the direct causal agency of a supernatural being, usually God. So, I believe in miracles as well but the Biblical kind and not just a broad range of wondrous events.
