Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Which comes first? Chicken or egg? Which begets which? Power or wealth? Do power and wealth ALWAYS corrupt or only mostly always?
Wealth doesn't necessarily corrupt. Wealth acquired TOO EASILY almost always does. Case in point - Dick Smith and Bill Gates both got rich by working very hard, taking a risk on a hunch and getting lucky. Both are philanthropists, although Smith is an eccentric one. On the flip side, Gina Rinehardt didn't invent the Hancock fortune, she inherited it - and a more evil creature has rarely walked the Earth.
The ill-gotten gains kind of wealth presupposes the gainer is corrupt right R? Evil exists at all levels. It's just a lot more dangerous at the level of the obscenely wealthy. For those who are neither obscene nor wealthy. Thank you for your reply! :)
Egg came first. Chickens were an evolutionary advancement ... or mutation, if you prefer.
Corruption comes before wealth. It may not reveal itself until the person has wealth. But if they weren't corrupt before wealth, they wouldn't be tempted to be corrupt with wealth.
Power always corrupts. "Power" is exercised by making people do what they don't want to do.

That's hard for me to conceive of Walt. From whence cometh an egg but the womb of a chicken. Some things are beyond my ability to "get" and that is one of them. Thank you for your reply and Happy Monday. Does power always corrupt? No exceptions? That's scary. L(
