Sure.  I know that it is not a measure of happy.   Some people are only happy when they are bitchin and moaning.  But sane people are positive when happy and negative more so when not happy.  The less positive occurrences, the more unhappy a normal person is.

People who get off on chaos and disorder are actually deeply unhappy.   I think their souls are crying out and they act out in any manner they can to get some attention.  Look at the mass shooters.

Fact - people with a positive attitude tend to be happy, while people with a negative attitude tend to be unhappy and depressed. (Psychology 101)

People who have a positive attitude tend to: make better decisions, are more content (even in adversity), and smile more.  Happiness begets happiness.  That's why a smile can help bring a 'down' person up.

People with a negative attitude tend to: make bad decisions, are always looking for "greener pastures", and don't smile much.  Negative attitudes are downward spirals.  There's no happiness going down.

Nature or nurture Shuhak? Our dad was a very upbeat positive person who seemed to my sister and me to be content and upbeat. A kinder man you could not meet. I do not recall him ever saying anything unkind about anyone. What he'd say was "he is doing the best he can". He said most people try to do their best and some people's best is not very good! Fortunately we take after him. We always look for the silver lining as sappy as that sounds. We are always appreciative and grateful for what we have. We count our blessings. We do not dwell on what we don't have. We don't lust after anything. When we're down in the dumps we don't stay down there very long. Why did both of us take after him in that regard? I wonder how genetic influences work? Thank you for your thoughtful reply! :)

I agree with him.  Most people are trying to do the best they can.  However, sometimes their "best" doesn't measure up to what we think is the best.  Unfortunately, it's the ones who aren't trying who seem to make the news.  That makes many feel as if there's no hope for humanity.

I've been playing upsy daisy with that of late. Perhaps you noticed. I go from hopeful to not so much. I don't stay down long but the abiding support of the prodons is very disappointing. I keep hoping they will finally wake up and smell the roses and break rank and stop supporting this evil man but every day they disappoint me again. Thank you for your reply Shuhak! :)
