I was unaware of that Durdle. But here you hear gubment blokes say it. "I serve at the pleasure of the president". Which means you can be fired at any time. Now I believe we do have some laws that protect workers in private companies but I don't know if gubment workers enjoy that protection. I know Trump plays hard and fast with his appointments, but does that apply to anyone in the civil-service too, but only his top-level officials and politicians, in roles rather like the Ministers in the UK Government?

(The Civil Service here is independent and neutral of Government, covers all manner of trades and professions represented by various Trade Unions, and uses the same employee regulations and practices all commercial companies are meant to use. The Ministers are appointed as such by the Prime Minister, but were and remain elected constituency Members of Parliament.)

He's getting worse. Secretive over basically bribing the Ukrainian President to undermine Joe Biden, now openly asking the Chinese to do the same! He cannot carry on playing the innocent over Putin's role in his election - even if in fact innocent there, who can now believe any denial he issues?

BBC Radio Four has a weekly current-affairs analysis programme called The Briefing Room, in which authoritative guests are asked to explain a single, important matter of the day, in greater depth than in an ordinary news programme. Its purpose is to give the background to the matter.   Last night's (Thur. 3rd Oct.), co-incidentally on the same day as the news of Trump talking to President Xi, focussed on the Biden question. We learnt Joe is the intended victim, but via his son, as a director of a Ukranian energy company and who has not broken any Ukrainian laws!

As usual the steadfast jacka** has NO INTEREST IN THE TRUTH. He lies about everything all the time and his adoring worshippers believe him. We antidons know better. We have the decency to be humiliated by the steadfast jacka** who honestly believes he is smarter than anyone and has never made a mistake. His peeps believe that too! Mass hypnosis? Mass hysteria?
