We can see the consequences of their actions and learn from them- drug addicts for instance.
Even so, I would say their value is not in their bad examples, but in what they do when they change, and the wisdom they learn from their experiences.
I knew a woman who was an alcoholic and a drug addict She pulled herself up out of that deep dark hole and volunteered for the Peace Corps after she got clean and stable. She was a trained nurse. She went to the island of St. Lucia for two years and did a lot of good there. Sadly she passed away from cancer years ago but I admired her so much for the person she became. What is the rate of recidivism when it comes to addicts? I know the rate is high for criminals...a huge percent of them return to jail. Thank you for your reply hartfire! :)

You learn what NOT to do and it sinks in better.
Rosie, I have to apologise for raising the topic, as it's against ToS to discuss drugs here. If it were in the free for all group, I could answer your question on recidivism.
It is? I did not know that. Thank you for informing me of that hartfire. I would ask why we can't discuss drugs
but that would clearly be against the rules as well. Happy Wednesday hartfire! :)
It's against ToS due to the fact that we have young people here from 14 years old and upwards.
Drugs are permissible to discuss in the Free-for-All group where people must be legally adult in order to sign on.
Oh. Thank you for the info hartfire.
