There are several ways to indicate inadequacy/lacking/defective. Two pertain to sanity, the other to being dull. Can you add to the list?

A few cards short of a full deck
A few screws loose
Not the sharpest knife in the drawer


The sharp knife may be sane but isn't sharp or swift or agile of mind.

The other two are various degrees of removal from sanity.

Surely there are more you can add. Wouldja?

    Sharp as a rubber tack
    That was my father's saying.  

    The tack may be sane, but an inept tool for the job.

    And then there is the famous Not the sharpest pebble on the beach.

    Never heard either one before Sharon. I think a rubber tack would be very annoying and a sharp pebble can cut the feet if you walk barefoot on them. Thank you for your reply! :)
