All prez candidates believe they can do the job. They have to believe that or they wouldn't run. What makes them think they can do a job they've never done?

Do they expect the last prez to be their mentor? It is usually someone from the opposition party and NO ONE is going ask someone from the opposition party for advice. That would mean they would have to admit the other person KNEW something valuable that he/she could benefit from. Who is going to do that? All the sycophants that surround a prez of course will be there. They have never done the job either but they think they could do it better than the way it has been done. Where do ignorant people like that get the arrogance to believe they are that good/smart/capable/steady/calm/talented?
