So I make a reply an ASKER'S PICK and I see no evidence that anything has changed? Where does winner show? If it doesn't show WHY BOTHER?

When you select Asker's Pick the answer will show up it a darker shade of gray to indicate the asker's pick.

If you go back to your question about Iowa being important in primaries, you will see that Shahuk's answer is shown in the darker gray section.

Oh" Okay. That's very odd. Why not just put a STAR by the replier or the words ASKER's PICK? Whatever. Thanks m2c. SIGH. Something else that makes no sense at all.

Probably just something in the programming of the website that makes it what is possible to do or not to do.

    It shows in two ways.
The asker's pick is highlighted with a grey background and a small message saying Asker's Pick appears at the bottom of the post.
If you click on the Bell symbol in the top bar, it notifies the Mugger when the questioner has chosen their answer. The Mugger might then click on the notification to see their answer again.
I frequently get picked for best answer, and I have to confess I really enjoy it. It gives me a little buzz of pleasure, as though the class teacher has told me I got the answer right or someone has thanked me for being helpful.
It motivates me to try to give the 'best' answers I can think of.
It often happens because I don't go for the easy answers and quips - I take the questions seriously.
Occasionally it backfires. Some Muggers only want funny answers and can't bear my seriousness. I don't let that bother me.
