BRAVE sons/daughters die on foreign battlefields fighting for country and its ideals. Dying while protecting OIL? Does it enrage/comfort?

I dunno 'bout chu but if my kid died in a foreign country because he was ORDERED to be there by the CIC while protecting an oilfield I'd be ticked off pissed off and infuriatedly furious.

Has been policy since at least 1944.

That is not my question m2c. You are giving irrelevant information in this instance. I don't need it because I didn't ask for it because I don't want it. If your kids die on a foreign battlefield what can you live with as the reason? That's my question. Got an answer?

If they died defending the oil....
There must have been a battlefield. And they were protecting USA interests and economy.

You may not want the info but I give freely. Just to clarify this is not some new policy by President Trump.  This post was edited by my2cents at October 28, 2019 6:05 PM MDT

Ever see "The Longest Day" and/or "Saving Private Ryan?" Those people were proud to do the right thing.

To answer your question...nobody should die for protection of resources for their government. I am not an historian, but it seems like mostwars have been fought over "You got what we don't and we're going to fight you to get it." Greed supercedes everything.

But when people join the military, it becomes their duty to fight as ordered by higher command and possibly die. Those who sign up and their loved ones accept this without complaint. They don't have to do this, and since there's no draft or conscription, they can opt not to join. But they don't get the luxury of joining and then picking and choosing which conflicts in which they are willing to serve. Only those who don't serve, some of whom are sitting on their a$$es and posting on a site like this, have the luxury of playing armchair quarterback. The US certainly made a mistake by entering and extending the Vietnam War and has arguably made similar ones in other conflicts, but that doesn't mean that we are always wrong to enter a conflict and put military lives at risk - a risk that those who VOLUNTARILY serve their country willingly accept.
