Remember Karen Carpenter? She saw herself as being fat and died an anorexic's death. She had a badly distorted self-image. Do you?

I think that question is unanswerable. Whatever view you have of you is what you think you are. Is what you think a distorted image or do you see what's really there? How do you KNOW?

So if you don't really KNOW how true the you you think you are is how do you place any value on it?

Forget financially. Think otherly. Are you decent kind trustworthy caring? Are people better off for having spent time with you? Are you an asset to any organization or group because you always contribute the best of you?

It's maybe the hardest question to answer. WHO ARE YOU?

She had a totally normal childhood. Anorexia is a disease and has nothing to do with upbringing as a rule.  It just happens.  It is a mental disorder not something to pick on parents about.

It could have been a comment when she was a child. Something she might have overhead someone say about her to her mom. Something like "she is a cute and chubby little girl". I don't know the details D but it causes a person to see herself (I think it's mostly females) as FAT no matter how skeletal they become. Or maybe later on as she and her brother became famous she was told to lose some weight. I'm not sure what the trigger was. After that she was hooked and I think didn't seek help for it. It can occur just by observation. If you have a mom who exercises all the time and worries about being fat and is always on some diet or another she could just have absorbed that. In any case she was a victim of herself triggered by something or someone outside herself. Thank you for your reply D ! :) This post was edited by RosieG at November 1, 2019 3:33 AM MDT

I totally agree with thee D. I can still hear her "we've only just begun" and it brings tears to my eyes honestly. Some say everything that happens is for a reason. There's a question there that requires asking so I will. We just might not ever know what that reason is. I don't know about that. When they first appeared we had no idea about how it would end. Something she was driven to do. What I wonder is why those who loved her didn't try to intervene and get her some help. Maybe they did. I don't know. It seems it was a senseless preventable loss. Thank you for your reply! :)
