In today's election, NYC passed a ballot proposal to allow ranked-choice voting in city primary elections.

Given that the Republican party is basically non-existent here, Democratic primaries are usually more important in deciding local races for mayor, comptroller, public advocate, borough presidents, and city council seats than the general election. They often have lots of candidates running, which creates chaos. This will result in more orderly races and campaigns.

Any important races or issues decided today where you live?

I do not like ranked ballots...allows for too much game in the results.

We did not have any elections this time. This post was edited by my2cents at November 6, 2019 10:37 AM MST

I don't like it, myself.  It creates more opportunity for fraud and makes it harder to find.  The primary system is effective at finding a party's candidate.  I do like states where a runoff is forced if no one gets 50% of the vote.   One runoff.  That is quasi-ranked I guess.

NYC has had many runoffs in past local elections. These are separate electoral events, often held to decide only one race. The main purpose of this proposal is to eliminate runoff elections, which are expensive to stage and usually get very low voter turnout.
