Being humble and modest are by far more admirable qualities. I, for one, don't want to sit around hearing someone toot their own horn. It has been said that braggers usually have a low self esteem and what they don't realize is most people find it annoying Hey, with the invention of the internet, anybody can transform themselves into whatever they like. But you'd think if they were going to do that, they'd invent someone of interest. I don't see anything wrong with being confident as long as it isn't taken to the extreme.

Nicely said. I agree.
I prefer people who are supremely confident and modest and humble.
Modest and humble have nothing to do with not having confidence. Humble means having the ability to SHUT UP and keep your greatness to yourself and not brag about it. Modest runs along those lines. You need to be supremely confident to be humble. It takes skill to keep quiet about yourself when you may want to shout from the rooftops that your way is the best way. If you are humble with no self-confidence, you are just a person filled with fear and anxiety which has nothing to do with being humble.
Being a self promoter has nothing to do with confidence. Confidence is self-proof of your abilities. You know you can do a thing. It has nothing to do with advertising yourself ad nauseum like Trump. You can be confident and promote yourself in a way that draws people to you for the right reasons. Like the fact that you have something to actually OFFER people.
You can be over- confident and a shameless self-promoter, but that is an anomaly of the definition of confidence.
I agree with your reply verbatim PC. So how do you explain the slavish devotion of Trump supporters...Trump who wouldn't recognize

humble or modest if they bit him in the arse? All he does is brag and boast and compliment himself and they all lap it up and want more. Why that is I can't fathom. Maybe they are all in desperate need of an authoritarian father and embrace him as that guy. AARRGGHH! Thank you for your thoughtful reply! :)
