Children can take credit for their accomplishments. Good grades, athletic ability, good deeds. What they look like should not be overly emphasized/lauded/complimented/praised. Should it?

What do you think?why? how? when? Where?

I think this is true and I wish someone's looks didn't matter.  But let's face it; we are judged by looks.  I would not ignore things like getting my child braces if they needed them or having bad acne treated.  Kids can be cruel and you can't protect them from everything that is out there.
