    He was not in her shadow over here in Britain!

    Sarah was just his wife, and it was his work we took much notice of. It's only the tackier end of the Press, especially the "celebrity" and fashion journalists, that would have paid more attention to her than to him. 

    Now, though he is in the news for a very serious misjudgement of his own  making.

    My apologies Durdle. Over here she was on talk shows a lot at one point. I found her to be very entertaining and charming and dynamic. Of course you know much better than I. I don't think I'm tacky at all so I take exception to that remark though you were talking about the press. The press gives the public what it wants so you cannot fault them. I am drawn to shiny and sparkly and effervescent and bubbly. She was all those things. I do not remember him ever being here being interviewed so from my point of view he is a cipher. Different strokes. Remember my only knowledge of this particular elephant is its tale. I cannot comment knowledgeably on that about which I am ignorant.     Sorry - I didn't mean to imply you being tacky !

    I formed that opinion from the newsagents' shelves here. I have no TV but I don't think either of them were interviewed on British TV very often. There were though a lot of reports about Andrew as a helicopter pilot, first in the Armed Services then for a civilian air-ambulance service. If Andrew was interviewed it would probably have concentrated on that rather than anything else.

    Actually, I live only a couple of miles from a former Royal Naval base and helicopter station, where the prince was stationed for some while. Local gossip has it that he was fine, and apparently sometimes a customer of a local fish-&-chip shop, but many who met Sarah found her rather haughty. There is though a trait among naval-officers' wives, here anyway, of assuming rank over others simply to reflect their husband's professional rank.  

    I suppose that's a difference of situation. At home on Portland, Sarah was just one of  many wives of naval personnel, though hers happened to be both an officer and one of the country's Royal Family. On TV in another country, she is a celebrity, not least because she married royalty; and there the more positive side to her personality can come through!

    Not to worry m'dear. By now I know you well enough to know it was not an intentional dig. I just gave feedback about how I received it. Here's the thing. How do we measure the content of character of anyone? By his entire life or by the very worst thing he has ever done? I'm going to ask that question but I'm asking it of you first. As an outsider I think Charles is a jacka** and Camilla is a horseface dame and they are both disgusting. Now I'm sure there those who have forgiven Charles and Camilla think they're OK.  I don't. I know Diana was not a perfect human but I believe she was a good person with a good heart and good instincts and she did care about others less fortunate and used her celebrity to call attention to them. I have a long memory. For me nothing Charles will ever do will erase his betrayal of his wife. And I don't know if this will be removed from my post because it is too awful but did Charle not say to Camilla he wanted to be her tampon? Did I get that wrong? So whatever Andrew was I don't care. Again I'm an outsider but I do have a right to my opinion. The moment he started hanging with jeff epstein and going to the island and jeff's home who was well known for being a sextrafficker of little girls and a pedophile I lost any respect for him. That is all he is now for me. So you know how it goes. Thank you for your reply and Happy Monday! :)
