He was not convicted of murder/torture....he took a picture. He was not the only one in the picture. But the only one charged....

While I understand that Trump is the C-I-C, when it comes to military trials, he should stay out of it and let the military handle it.

If they were acting fairly, Trump likely would not have intervened.  Gallager was not the only one in the picture but he was the only on charged.  There is also reported retaliation towards him and fellow soldiers who testified on his behalf.

Sorry, I put this under the wrong post.  DO NOT REPORT ME.  PLEASE.  (I really don't care) This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at November 25, 2019 9:26 AM MST

Spunky is a tad ticked at me.  She took umbrage at my being rude all week.  For this, I think I apologize in advance.  And if I get PB'd for it?  I don't remember exactly what she is referring to, but if I did it?  I cannot answer you on the PM but I will take whatever it is I did and say I probably did it and I'm sorry.  I know I can be off-putting and obnoxious.

No, he was not the only one in the picture, but he was the only one standing next to the body like it was a trophy.  Unbecoming for a SEAL.

None should have been in the pict...should not have been a pict at all.

Cannot have selective prosecutions in the military or criminal courts.

I agree that there shouldn't have been pics, but let's assume, for argument's sake, that the pic was taken to prove who they killed.

Then there should have been no prosecution.  Not picture with soldiers at all. But instead nearly the ENTIRE platoon took a picture and the only one was charged.

Maybe that was because he was the highest ranking member and should have known better.

That would be possible if he was the highest ranking officer.  He was not.   Lt. Jacob Portier was his commander.

    Was Portier in the photo?

The photo was taken at an impromtu reinlistment party for Galleger which Portier arranged. I believe he is in the photo. I cannot find direct confirmation but in comparing a combat pict of him and the platton pict with the terrorist's body....I believe he is standing directly behind Gallagher.

Keep one thing in mind here (and I didn't know this until this morning) - Gallagher was reported by his own men.  Considering the loyalty that these me have to each other, how can you not think Gallagher did something wrong if his own men reported him?

    Happy Thanksgiving.

I cannot speak as to why anyone does what they do.

Defense claims some of the Jr Seals did not like him as a teacher.

But he was not convicted even with the only 2/3 requirement instead of total agreement of the jury.

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.

I have to imagine SEALS stick pretty close to each other, so for them to report him, they had to believe that he did something over the line, eve if he wasn't convicted.
