The host country wants/expect immigrants to be assimilated. Speak the language, eat the food, adopt the customs. Which immigrants have ever insisted the host country conform to them?

Which immigrants have ever expected the host country to speak their language, eat their food, mimic/adopt their customs? Don't they just want to be allowed to speak their own language, eat their ethnic foods and have the right to practice their ethnic customs? Why?

    They STOLE the land belonging to others. They had no right to claim anything m2c. Marauders. Thieves. Bullies. Murderers. The glorious beginning of the America you want to be made great again? More predatory taking of things not belonging to them?

    I thought what we wanted to "make great again" were the 1970s.   I don't see that the Indian wars were anything very great.

    You can try by USING the correct word m2c. You said the settlers came here to CLAIM the land. You mean to STEAL THE LAND  BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. That is the truth. Native Americans had their lands stolen, their people murdered and could not trust THE WHITE MAN to live up to the treaties they made. They are considered by your party to be "people of color" and therefore they are "less than" whites. Right? At least that is what it seems to be to me m2c. If that is incorrect I welcome your telling me exactly how the gasbag and the gaslighter-in-chief's party treats people of color with special emphasis on Native Americans. Wanna do that and show me how wrong I am? Please no canned propaganda. I've had enough of that. I want you to tell me in your own words right now without looking it up how your party treats people of color with respect and dignity and is very sorry for any injustices done to them. Couldja?     If we look at history we see that "marauding hordes" were a fact of life in many civilizations.  Tribes used up the natural recourses in their own area so in order for them to survive they had to move into and take lands from others.  Survival instinct.  They did not have governments which would support them if they could not support themselves.  Not pretty but very true. So this was often the rule throughout history.  

    European immigrants came to this country and learned to adapt themselves - often from the peoples already living her.  And that plus the knowledge they brought with them caused them to become better able to adapt and survive than any of the peoples living here.  In part because their farming and husbandry methods were based jupon enclosing and cultivating their own land and raising animals rather than primarily hunting and foraging for food which required much more land and larger territory.  So as the European people extended more and more their own system it encroached more and more upon the more indigenous peoples systems and consequently having less land to work with they became weaker and weaker until their only recourse was to go to war against the immigrants which of course they were less equipped to sustain so they lost everything. This is an oversimplification but is basically what happened.

    Don't know anything about that.  Immigrants can sort of surround themselves with each other and maintain their customary ways but unless the they do adapt somewhat to their new surroundings they will sicken and die.  Because what is traditional for them may not work in their new surroundings.  Then their children will more and more want to adopt the ways of their new country which will often put them at odds with their parents until they move out and start their own lives their own way.  Then sometime down the line some of these children will think OK the old ways were not so bad so they will bring them back and make a thing of them.  That tends to be the way it works.
