Do Americans object to Jewish Delis, Italian Delis, Middle-eastern Delis, etcetera? How about ethnic restaurants? Anyone object to any of them? What is an American Deli like and American food?

We know what Italian, French, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Indian, etcetera cuisine is like. They are very distinctive foods and representative of their countries. What is American Food? Is it limited to hot dogs and hamburgers and baked beans? Chitlins? Barbecued everything  and fried green tomatoes with collard greens? Donuts and corn on the cob?  What is distinctive about it?

I like all different kinds of food unless it's spicy. My tummy can't take that.

I object to "kosher" (Jewish) delicatessens. I mean, have you seen the prices? (Although I have to admit that the food is usually outstanding!) And what's this with schmaltz? Rendered poultry fat, indeed!
