Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» You're discussing a turkey and someone joins in the conversation with Spike Jones, the moon landing and a butterfly. WHY?
Sounds like my sister. I'll get in a few words and she will start talking about things that 1. I have no idea who she is talking about...2. She talks endlessly and switches subjects every 30 seconds...3. Won't let me butt in unless she asks me a question. As I was writing this...she called. I put the phone on speaker and let her drone on.
Oh my gosh E I started giggling from the first word. That is funny as he** in the reading but I'm sure it drives ya bonkers in the experiencing. I can't stand it because it's so funny. I mean I can't take reading it without giggling more and more each time! I can picture all of that. I've read it three times and I'm in such a jolly good mood! Sorry that your pain provides me with so much laughter but honestly it is hilarious. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure your sis does her best. Geez why am I still laughing? Thank you for a great start to my Answermug day and Happy Monday to ya! :)
Ya know what they say. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. But you just tune her out right? Go away to a "better" place in your head and an occasional nod probably makes her think you're listening. Thank you for your reply E :)
LOL ... have you seen the commercial for the new HP laptops? The one with the "webcam kill switch"? They added a manual switch to turn the built-in camera on/off. So, according to the commercial, people can act ridiculous and not worry about anyone seeing them via the webcam.
Or, you know, just put a piece of painter's tape across the camera. lol
Some people have to make everything about themselves. They join in conversations (which they are not included) not to stress a point of view on a subject, but to hear themselves talk - and let everyone else hear them. They think the more they talk, the more attention is lavished on them.
Drives me around the bend every time Shuhak! Of course it is always "the usual suspects" so forewarned should be forearmed but it always frosts me. So they want to veer off in other directions? Fine. ANSWER THE QUESTION I ASKED FIRST then you can segue to whatever else you wish to discuss. Is that so much to ask? Some of those meanderings could well be worthwhile providing the responder respects the questioner enough to answer the question asked FIRST. Sheesh! Thank you for your reply! :)
I'll do that in face-to-face conversations. Though I'll usually start with the turkey conversation ... and get sidetracked, remembering something about Spike Jones that relates to turkeys. So it's not a totally different track, just a "spur line". LOL
Maybe ... Turkey (bird) reminds me of Turkey (country) ... which reminds me of the movie The Fall, which had a filming location in Turkey, and was presented by Spike Jonze for it's theatrical release. And Spike Jonze would remind me of Spike Jones, of course, because they sound similar. And Spike Jonze also composed lyrics for The Moon Song, from the 2013 film Her. Which might get me thinking about the moon landing.
I didn't know all those links, I had to Google. LOL
Degrees of relation to Kevin Bacon? Everyone is within six? Now Turkey committed genocide and I'm Armenian so maybe that Turkey? Never saw The Fall at all. Oh SPIKE JONZE? Not Spike Jones. I wonder what the degree of relativity is among homo saps being as how we all started from the same microbe right? I am NOT familiar with Moon Song nor the film Her. Great good swell? Stream of consciousness operates within my brain 24/7 and it appears to me it also does to thee which is quite likely why you have no difficulty following me around hither and yon in no particular order. I like the moon because you can croon a tune by its light. I like the sun because you can have a lotta fun on a sunny day especially at the beach because you see a bazillions diamonds of light on top of the ocean waves. Quite a sight and delight. Are you set for today? Gonna watch/listen/avoid/ignore? Thank you for your reply Walt. how minds works and in what sequences is fascinating. Some work swiftly others grind so slowly. I'm not good at waiting for the slow to get moving. :)

They were just saying on NPR that it will probably take 6 hours for the vote. SIX HOURS. For a "Yes" or "No" vote. Talk about people who like to hear the sound of their own voices.
Since I'm working, I won't waste time on it ... and will hear the result via NPR when I go home. Then, if they have nothing better to talk about, I'll probably turn to Christmas music for the hour drive home.
Good choice kiddo! Music soothes the savage breast/beast. When I'm in the kitchen or on the computer I keep the TV on a news channel in the living room. Small house so I just turn up the sound and monitor what's going on as I do other things. I rush to MUTE it whenever the sounds I hear nauseate/offend me. I am thankful for the MUTE button. My friend and pal on whom I can always count to shut stupid dumbs up. Sometimes I run away to TCM for an old classic movie or to TVland for a shot of The Andy Griffith Show. It cleans the pipes and flushes out the crap I hear from other sources and then I'm good to go for awhile. Thank you for your reply Walt! Hope your day at work is easy peasy breezy! :)
