I'd rather NOT KNOW about anything that will hurt me. Cowardly. Are you a coward too or would you prefer knowing everything?

No matter how much it might hurt you?

Not knowing wont nullify a result.  I may not know that a certain substance is lethal, but that lack of knowledge doesn't make that substance any more or less lethal.

However, there is a such a thing as too much information.  Knowing everything that may harm a person can cause them to become paranoid. - My salad may contain E coli.  I could be hit by another car when I drive or am out walking.  I could be shot by some idiot with a gun at work.  It may rain so much this winter that my house will be washed away.  My pet could give me a disease.  An airplane could crash into my house and kill me while I sleep.  I could get hit by a meteorite!  ........    After awhile it starts to become absurd.

Personally, I don't spend a lot of time watching/reading the news.  Is it because I want to be ignorant of what's happening?  No, it's because dwelling on so much negativity makes me negative.  Just look at what's going on in the world today... protestings, homelessness, school shootings, hate crimes, kidnappings, sex trafficking, rapes, murders, suicide bombers, terrorists, ice caps melting, flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, leaders threatening to drop bombs on other countries, war, nuclear war, asteroids slamming into the planet ... where does it all end?  Sure, it could hurt me... but do I really need to know all this?   How much is too much?  When I'm negative, it can cause others around me to become negative.  In turn, those people can cause others around them to become negative... and so on, and so on, and so on.  There's enough negativity in the world as it is without me adding to it.

Am I a coward for not wanting to know it all?  Or am I showing wisdom by knowing that I don't need to know it all?

I am heartbroken this morning Shuhak. We watched an installment of Ken Burns' series on National Parks  on PBS which he did in 2009. It was released then but he and his team had worked on it for TEN YEARS! Did you see it by any chance? As usual it was very through and informative and showcased the heroes like John Muir and President Teddy Roosevelt and other presidents and also the efforts of we the people to preserve what we had so that future generations could enjoy it. That was what our country used to be like before the deadhead and his ilk took over. The beauty of our country THAT USED TO BE is breathtaking. What the deadhead and his money-hungry hoor vipers have done is despicable. And I blame the 41% of the amurican sheeple who say they want him to be their president again! On their heads. You're right. Sometimes I have to unplug because I just can't stand the awful. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday. I'm gonna ask lotsa questions about it. I wonder if any of those 41% sheeple ever took their families to our great and wonderful national treasures to camp out? We visited Yosemite for a couple of days when I was 10. Also stood on the rim of the Grand Canyon and was awestruck. Imagine condos being built therein and strip malls? Too painful. This post was edited by RosieG at December 17, 2019 10:17 AM MST
