The creative in our family was in my mom and my baby sis. I take after my dad. We are not creative in the artistic sense but very good appreciators. Mom was extremely creative on so many levels. She could make tailored suits, upholster furniture, repair fur coats, make lampshades, sew all our clothes. She could knit crochet and paint plain ceramic statues to make them come alive. She did a beautiful Oriental cherry tree branch on one wall of our living room with a bird on the end and cherry blossoms faint pink. A mural. The first thing you saw as you entered our house. It was magnificent. Artistically creative. She took after her dad my grandfather. An artist whose medium was wood. He owned a woodworking shop in Highland Park, Michigan and did work on commission for various local upscale hotels and restaurants.  Unbelievably beautiful. Do you know what marquetry is? Inlaid woods. An art that may be lost now. I don't know. My sister Carol is always finding new outlets for her creativity. Currently and recently she has become a "potter". She met someone who is into that and now she is into that hugely. I have an oil painting of a Unicorn she did for me decades ago. A large shag rug featuring unicorns. Scarves to wear to keep me warm. Ceramics she bought unpainted and made them beautiful. Her YODA dominates one of our bookcase shelves. She was always into something. I am very proud of her and my mom and my grandad. Wish I'd gotten just a bit of it but I do not begrudge them any of it. Thank you for your reply D! :) This post was edited by RosieG at December 22, 2019 4:24 AM MST
