My wife and I do not frequent fast food places, but every few months or so one or both of us will have some.

We are (ok, I am) curious about Burger King’s new vegetarian offering, the Impossible Whopper. It’s not currently available at all of their locations, and we’re not about to go  over creation searching high and low for one that does. She is less enthusiastic about trying it than I am, saying that it must be chocked full of chemicals that will only lead to strange illnesses and ailments for its consumers.

  Have you tried them yet?

  • I did.  It taste exactly like a beef Whopper just a smidge drier but that could have been the way it was cooked as well.
Side by side unlabeled I doubt I would be able to safely tell which one is which.

There aren't any "chemicals"  like your wife is suggesting.  The only unknown variable is the GMO microbes they use to.produce the heme that makes it meaty  have also been.shown to produce unknown proteins as well that  have no data on them.

I tried the "Impossible Whopper"and my opinion is it's not worth the bother.

It's not bad. But if you're expecting it to taste like a beef burger, you'll be disappointed. And if you're expecting it to taste like the best "fake meat" products, you'll be disappointed.

There are veggie-burgers which taste much better (albeit on their own merits, not as an attempt to mimic beef) than the Impossible Whopper.

Nowadays, I only eat those damn juicy Advent Burgers....
