Even as a Step-parent, I always tried to be kind, gentle and understanding to my two sons. Why? By doing so, this kept the line of communications opened between us.

Kudos to you m'dear. I was a step-parent once upon a time long ago. I tried my very best to be a good one. I had a son too and I felt guilty that I loved him more so I'd give my stepson the larger apple for example to make up for it. It didn't of course.  I guess I just didn't have the right stuff . Thank you for your reply ANP! :)
