Sometimes very smart people do/say very dumb things. Do very dumb people ever do/say very smart things? How?

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.  Likewise, a dumb person can say something smart.  Odds are thought that they won't know they did.

I wonder if that holds true for everyone though Shuhak? Saying things and not entirely comprehending their import? Here's why I ask. Sometimes I ask just ordinary everyday typical questions and on occasion I will receive replies that are extraordinarily wonderful which elevates the question beyond anything I consciously intended. So I'm wondering if that's true for everyone? Thank you for your reply! :)

Actually, we're all "dumb" in one way or another... even the smartest person in the world.  No one knows everything.  Everyone does or says something that another considers to be stupid or silly.  Some people try to say smart things, but due to lack of information or education on their part, it comes out as dumb (to others).  As intelligent as I am, I know I say dumb things from time to time (as you can probably attest).  And believe me, I've done ae a LOT of dumb things (some of which I'm lucky didn't severely injure or kill me).  Many of those "dumb" things taught me lessons (I'd like to say they all did, but sometimes we don't learn from our mistakes).

There's also point of view.  Sometimes what we consider to be dumb (word or action) is actually very smart, but due to OUR lack of information or understanding, it appears dumb to us.  I'm sure many of Einstein's theories seemed dumb to other scholars at the time.  Most people like to think they're smart.  {I say most as there are people out there who don't care or chose to remain dumb.  We have to discount them.}  Only a fool thinks they know everything.  Smart people stated out as dumb and grew to be smart.  Unless someone told you not to take cover in a metal shed during a thunderstorm, how would you know it's dumb?  Trial and error (if you survive) is also being "told".  Every now and them we hear in hear in the news about a person who by all account was smart, being killed by doing something dumb.  How many times do we, after doing or saying something, say to ourselves, 'that was dumb of me'?  If a dumb person refrains from saying or doing something dumb, are they not being smart?  Point of view.

I think a lot of what you have said falls under the category of IGNORANT not dumb.

Everyone is ignorant about many things. Some are very knowledgable about many things. For me the ones who are DUMB are the ones who are presented with evidence facts truth proof and call it fake! They are the biggest dumbbunnies ever. Intelligent people who are ignorant about things become knowledgeable when they learn about them. The entire GOP don of johns "partisan political party" are DUMB. The truth proof evidence facts surround them engulf them and they refuse to acknowledge them. That is as DUMB AS THEY COME Shuhak. They are worthless useless shameless heartless soulless and braindead automaton bobbleheads. Ignorance can be cured. Dumb is forever. Thank you for your thoughtful reply! :) This post was edited by RosieG at January 3, 2020 1:37 AM MST
