It's a thing I would say all large powerful contries do Rosie.... Who is there to stop them where their armies just obey without question....Germany and Japan did it ,Russia ,China to....Engalnd ,Holland ,France ,Spain and Portugal rap'ed the world for centuries and no one in those countries stopped them when they to benif form their own countries wrong doings ....

If there was a greater power or governing body over humans ....I wonder how that would change the goal posts

Hi D! How be thee my chickodee? There may be a governing body on a different planet playing chess or checkers with us. A far greater intelligence that finds us amusing and pits us against one another as in the olden days where throngs of citizens saw Lions/Tigers attack Christians. It is quite possible. It would account for inane insane profane history we homo saps have.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply D and Happy Monday to thee! :)

I didn't mean some celestial body in control Rosie, just a group of people who put our planets needs that come first.
How much more money would there be to reinvest in our planet if there were no more needs to make arms ,bombs ,missiles and necuclear weapons ...
How much does America spend each year on its war machine ,how much also does all nations combined spend on weaponry?

I did D. We have no idea whom we are why we're here what we are supposed to do and where we are going. We are all tumbleweeds being blown hither and yon many times WITHOUT OUR CONSENT.

I am open to any scenario including other-worldly control. You don't know anything FOR SURE. No one does. Which means any situation you can think up is possible. My opinion of course. Thank you for your reply. As for homo saps being in concert on anything without cheating or lying or trying to get an edge? Seriously? I think it is not within the universe of possibility homo saps being what they are. Sadly. This post was edited by RosieG at January 13, 2020 10:56 AM MST

I am a proud American.  I will say, however, our past is shadowed by double=crossing, back stabbing, stealing, and blaming.
We live in the most beautiful environment, geographically speaking, of course.

Then again, what do I know?  I haven't lived any other place.
I do think our track record stinks.  I am grateful the rest of the world is forgiving.

Historically America is still wet behind the ears. A trial run of a system that is excellent on paper but the actuality of it currently sucks! We will always be 'the new kids on the block" trying to keep up with the adults and doing a very bad job of it. I'm first generation American and very proud it. My parents and grandparents were naturalized citizens and very proud of their adopted country. I am thrilled they are gone so they don't have to witness the travesty and sickness of their country under the thumb of the very corrupt dumb don and the cabal et al. My family would be crushed. Thank you for your reply Merlin and Happy Monday to you m'dear! :)

What a pleasant surprise! :).  You know it is chilly in your old neck of the wood.  I'm looking at our weather station and it says 42*.
    Brrrrr!
It is wonderful your parents and grandparents wore their citizenship with dignity and pride.  I am sure they spoke beautifully and wrote as elegant as you.
I am as crushed as you in the state of affairs we have let our country become.
Granted, I have not fought a war and I happen to like indians and their ideas about living with the stars, the earth, and the animals that reside with us.
I am eternally thankful our parents and grandparents agreed that free will should be, well, free. :) :) and to exercise that freedom, if and when need be.
I do believe whereever you live, you have the right to learn, teach, experience, help, care, and nurture living creatures, includng each other.
The big toys are just making us more hostile toward each other and possibly other beings who are here.
Happy Monday to you as well, m'dear.  It is always a pleasure to chat with you when we can catch each other!
Take Care and always sending happy thoughts and good vibes to you, Rosie. :) :)  Love, Merlin :) :)

Surprise? You did not expect me to reply Merlin? I always do when I see that you have stopped by my corner to chat. I don't know if you have to go out of your way to select me or if there is a general place you can go for all questions. Once directed to be here I've never ventured out and about to investigate the other elsewheres on the site. Thank you for a thoughtful reply and Happy New Year 2020 and specifically Happy Monday! :) ((hugs)) Love, Rosie This post was edited by RosieG at January 13, 2020 4:44 AM MST

    Oh, sure!

Just ask the Native Americans, the native Hawaiians, the people of the Philippines, just about everyone who was affected by the Versailles Treaty after WWI, the people abused by Iran's SAVAK after the US overthrew the democratically-elected government and installed the Shah, etc. The list is quite long.

I don't think the list makes the United States uniquely horrid and two-faced, but it does put a lie to all the "shining city on the hill" sentiments some people substitute for actual knowledge of US history.
