What is it about touch-screen technology that prevents its use when wearing normal gloves?


  There are specialized gloves made for it, and they can sometimes be quite expensive.

    Your skin is electrically conductive, gloves are not. There is a tiny electrostatic field between your finger and the screen. When you touch it, a minute current is detected by the screen of the device.
