Make America Great Again? When was it great in the past and what made it great?

Curiously, although MAGA has been the catchphrase of Trump and his supporters for close to 4 years now, I have yet to hear a coherent explanation of what past American glory will be restored and what actions will restore it.

Has anyone else here heard anything?

    Hollow catchphrase. Whatever basis one might conjure up does not rest in any readily identifiable historical context.

    Let’s ask when did America stop being “great“, assuming it was (and for whom), so as we might pin down the point of decline and what forces caused it.

    That would be just as good.

    It matters not to me if some solves 4 + x  = 10  or 10 - X =  4. We can get at "x" either way.

  • We are not necessarily great because we say we are in our own hearts, but we may be great according to how we are percieved in the hearts of others.  I fear in that respect we are failing..

  • King Donald thinks nothing is great until he gets his hands on it.  Personally, I thought things were fine before him and with a little luck they'll still be able to recover when he's GONE.

    Since Donald Trump was never previously President, how does his becoming President makes things great AGAIN?

    (Note: your explanation of Donald Trump's attitude is plausible, and I agree that Trump's election has not produced any "greatness" that I can point to. But I am curious what Trump supporters would point to as the "greatness" they are attempting to restore)
