Cryotherapy

With professional sport such a big business in this day and age, sportspeople and teams are going to greater lengths to ensure that their bodies are as fit as possible. A few years ago, sports recovery would be an occasionally mentioned term; now it is an extremely common one – sport can have a massive effect on the body and athletes look for any way to enable their body to recover. Recently, a recovery technique known as cryotherapy has made headlines as many believe it to be one of the best ways to help your body to recover from its exertions.

Numerous scientific tests have been carried out to establish the benefits of cryotherapy to athletes. One study focussing on trial runners reported that, “A unique session of whole-body cryotherapy performed immediately after exercise enhanced muscular recovery by restricting the inflammatory process.”

I tried to do it after a work out. I did it at home. The temperature of the water coming out tap of the bath is at 13 C. The strong conductive power of water (20 times greater than air) allows us through immersions between 7 ° c and 12 ° c to obtain painkillers, vasomotor, anti-inflammatory effects very interesting. It took me a while to slide inside. Once i immersed my foot, I was wondering what I am doing. It took me few minutes to immerse my full body, it was awful, I stayed there for 15 minutes and hated every single seconds. I didn't enjoy it but once I came out the tiredness of the workout was gone. But I won't do it again.
