One of the most underrated Four Seasons songs, this one was released as a single in 1977 but it struggled into the Top 40 despite their great success the previous year. Just one week at number 37 for this one, some six weeks after it was released. It deserved to do better than that and it should have done, considering the airplay it received.
I've never heard this before. This never charted in the US. The audio is crap BTW.
Judging by what I see on the video, it was uploaded from a vinyl single, which would explain the poor sound quality. I've been looking into the song's lack of success and it doesn't seem to have been released as a single in the USA. As far as I can see from discographies, only "Down The Hall" was released as a US single from the "Helicon" album. That one was also released in the UK but it didn't do much better than "Rhapsody". I chose to post "Rhapsody" because I personally prefer it and I thought it deserved more success than it achieved. It was released as a single in Australia as well, but I haven't yet found out its chart statistics (if any) for there.
When my sister and I were children we liked to play records a lot. Our mum bought a few singles for us when we were little, although we didn't have anything by the Four Seasons until my sister bought "December '63" on a single in 1976. It took me a long time to get "Rhapsody" on a single because, due to poor sales, it didn't turn up very often. I didn't buy it when it was new because there were so many good records around that I couldn't afford to buy them all at the same time. Lol:)
