Friends of our who were in a similar situation actually moved to Israel for a few years. I would have loved to do that.

    wow...   ten plus years involved with Judaism? How did that part of your life come about?    Converting is not for the faint of heart, a difficult process.   I was born Jewish and it is a religion that does not proselytize at all, quite the opposite - I believe potential converts are turned down a minimum of three times - they have to really want it and the studying is not for the faint of heart.    Not that I like his politics but Donald Trumps Daughter, Ivanka studied for two years and completed her Orthodox conversion and then went on to marry and has just had her third child.

    Wow - ten years is quite an involvement in Judaic life.  This really is quite a rare experience it is not like that there are that many Jews in the world, 14-16 million - only 0.2% of the worlds population.  The reform movement is by far the most welcoming and "flexible" recognizing blended families and patriarchal lineage as well as being flexible on conversions.  The Orthodox in particular have major issues with these aspects.  It is almost like a take on Harry Potter with muggles and purebreds- instead of focusing on what one's soul tells them is where they belong.    My Wife taught Nursery school for many years in a reform congregation and our Daughters attended it before starting Day school.  It was a warm family oriented environment.   I think the focus on family and education are perhaps the most important overall themes and practically the ones that matter the most.  We have been married for over twenty five years and have raised two Daughters.  My Wife's family attended a conservative congregation which we attended after we were married.    I was raised attending an orthodox Synagogue and became fairly observant, much of this starting when we decided that our children would attend a co-ed parochial day school and Jewish high school as well.  The high school is not aligned to any movement - it is open to all including those who did not attend day schools with a fast track development in Hebrew but it is an intensive environment.   I did not want to be in the position of having our girls saying "why do we have to learn this when we don't do this at home" so it was a matter of consistency.   When our eldest was in grade one, she came home and asked if we could build a Sukkah.  My family never did this growing up but I figured would that not be a great thing for her to be able to tell her children so pen to paper and off to home depot for materials and up it went.   A good environment for family and children.

    How do we add existing groups?    Also - how tolerant is this site?   I just came her from EP and we are looking for a place to go as EP is shutting down in three weeks so MANY people would like to have a place to go.   We don't want to get booted off for silliness either so better to find out NOW rather than later.  Some of us tried Relate to that - and were astounded by the authoritarian idiot who runs that site - she removes content that is innocuous, removed legitimate groups and removed accounts and blocked IP addresses in a heart beat so EVERYONE is boycotting her site - as I said there  are a HUGE number of people looking for a stable place to go to - we need a new home - is this going to be it?
