Also, having longer gaps between smacks might have meant that i was hit harder, i never got the slipper or a shoe, but dont think dad could have whacked me as hard with slipper as with the yardstick. That said, the fact that i got many more whacks at one time than me, and also on the bare bum sounds nasty and glad i nevet got it

I also never got the slipper, but would the wooden yardstick i got have been a worse implement, did u ever get it cause it really hurt. Also, there was usually a few seconds gap between whacks whenever i was punished. Did the 24 come real quick or was there a gap. The pause made it worse i think, cause it meant that each whack came just as the pain from the previous had been fully felt. This made each whack hurt worse than the one before it.  less

    As a kid and also a young teen, all spankings were given on the bottom, mostly from dad so it would hurt more. The main way the severity was changed was the number of whacks i was given. It could be 1 or 2 for minor stuff but anywhere between 6 and 10 if it was serious, and believe me getting repeated heavy whacks used to really hurt.
    The yardstick and oaddle were used to smack me as an older kid and young teen, and meant that it remained a serious and effective punishment,even when i was older.
    How did your parents vary the spankings to depending on your age or what u did  less

    Nope I was never that stupid. In any case, getting a big spanking from dad used to seriously hurt, and it would have been crazy to claim it didn't hurt while choking back tears. If it didn't hurt, then just keep quiet and count urself lucky

    I was able to ask no go to toilet or something legitimate no worries. I was smacked for continuing to argue after being told to stop over and over, it was a fair punishment

    I was 12 at the time and had to sit on a chair in middle of living room for an hour for bad behaviour. I continually argued while there, with both parents telling me to sit quietly, which would keep me quiet for a few minutes before starting again.
    Dad eventually had enough, came over and ordered me to stand up. I knew I was in for it when told to move behind the chair and lean over the chair. While holding the arm rests dad whacked my bottom 5 times as punishment for the arguing, they were big smacks and really hurt. I was told to sit back down on the chair, with the hour starting again and with tears in the eyes was told that Id be smacked again if the arguing continued. I spent the next hour in silence, with a smacked bottom as a reminder to keep silent.    less
