    I think you are right. The siblings of my grandparents were similar strict with their children as my grandparents with me. To make things worse for me was the fact that my mother was only 14 years old when she gave birth to me and that my father was a 17-year drug junkie who killed himself with an overdose as I was almost 2 years old. My grandparents hated him and made him responsible for not only ruining their daughter´s life but that he also brought them in discredit in the small town in which they lived. My grandfather was a respected physician in the 2nd generation and never before happened such a shame in his family. My grandparents wanted of course prevent to all costs, that I would even try to follow my father´s footsteps, that´s why they disciplined me in such an overly strict way. They not only punished me for the mishief I did or for not obeying them, but also to spank the possible heritage of my father out of me.   less

    Whenever I misbehaved two times in one week at school, I got on every morning of the next 5 following school days a slippering of my granddad shortly before I left the house. I really hated those preventive spankings because it was anything but a pleasure to sit with my burning and stinging butt on the hard wooden chair in school for the next hours. Not to mention the shame to meet my friends and classmates there and they could see on my red and swollen eyes that I had been crying and of course figured out soon or later why. 
    My butt seem to be sore all day long after those spankings in the early morning, because my granddad really make them count. His "normal" spankings hurt like hell, too of course, but those preventive spankings he applied only to my sitspots. To get the maximum effect of pain so that his discipline work would remind me as long as possible to behave the way I should in school.   less

    And actually I liked school. I liked to learn and being together with my friends, although our teachers were pretty strict, too I enjoyed it somehow being away from my overly strict grandmother, at least for a few hours.   less

    I grew up by the parents of my mother because she was only 14 as she gave birth to me and shortly after she was sent from her parents to her aunt, the sister of her mother, to finish school there and to live there. 

    How did your grandmother spanked you as you ruined her curtains? Do you remember how old you were? 

    I wished my grandparents would have had the same rule as your parents: No additional spanking(s) after a spanking at school or at a friends house or on a trip outside with whoever was in charge of me.
