I think he'll bail and make a big fuss about it. He knows he can't win and he is going to put forth all kinds of blinders to make it look like it was something else besides HIM losing. If he shows, he will have all kinds of stipulations as to what can and cannot be done regarding his ability to debate in this forum.
I mean he is already grousing that he cannot stand up for 2 freaking hours remember that one? I think he gets a chair most of the time for this one, so he will have to come up with a doozy.
I can see him buying his own air time and just debating himself as to why he won't debate Hillary on another station.
I am sure trump will not be the one to bail. I am excited to see it and I have never before been interested enough to schedule time to watch the debate. I will be disappointed if hillary has another health excuse and does not attend.

Well, I dunno who your pal is, but it's getting awfully late to bail.. Course, Trump doesn't care a whit about surprising us.. In fact, I think he THRIVES on it.. In terms of the debate, he's laying the groundwork for calling them ALL crooked.. Trump says ALL the moderators are Democrats.. He's wrong, of course. Lester Holt is a registered Republican, and he especially doesn't like Anderson Cooper.
So, tell your friend that I AGREE with him..

A debate only helps the candidate who is behind. If he does not feel like he is behind, he has one good reason to avoid a debate.

can just not show up on Monday . What are they gonna do? Find him and bring him to the debate in shackles? It will just be another way that he stiffed folks. He usually stiffs them financially but there are many ways to stiff others and I'm sure Trump has done them all.
