We enjoy seeing movies about real people m2c. We saw one recently called Blossoms in the Dust. It was sad but very uplifting about a Texas woman who fought to give children who were born out of wedlock kinder treatment. She fought to remove the word "illegitimate" from their birth certificates. She said "there are no illegitimate children. Only illegitimate parents." She opened a home for orphans and worked tirelessly to have them adopted out to good homes. Her name was Edna Gladney and very coincidentally she and her husband lived in Sherman, Texas and the home for the children was there and maybe still is. Now Jim was born in Savoy, Texas and has relatives in Sherman so it made it more memorabke for us. She lost a child and could never have more so that's what drove her to do what she did. She also lost her husband later on but she carried on and fought the good fight and is very loved and beloved in Texas. She is memorable. So it's bittersweet but more happy than sad. She must have placed hundreds..maybe thousands of children in good homes over the years. Now that's a life that was lived fully and well don't you think? Thank you for your reply! I always look up people to see how close the movie came to telling the truth. This one was pretty much true. Of course Edna was played by the very beautiful Greer Garson and I don't think Edna was a great beauty but she surely had a beautiful heart and beautiful soul and in the end that's all that really counts! Isn't it? :) This post was edited by RosieG at February 9, 2020 6:58 AM MST

I have been to Sherman Tx. There is a bridge there over a small creek that is full of shark teeth fossils.
Sounds like a good story. But IDK if it would keep my attention.

You GOTTA be kidding me m2c! Seriously? Geez my gosh WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF THAT? Wow! Anything having to do with helping children ALWAYS GETS my attention. I think you know that I worked for a couple who owned 7 McDonald's Restaurants and the couple was very instrumental in getting the Ronald McDonald House in Loma Linda, California built. They had the staff spend at least 25% of our work day working on getting out mailers and other information and setting up venues for various competitions which folks would pay to see and all those monies went for the building. Everything we needed was DONATED by local businesses. We had relay races and auto races that brought in money for the House. As you may know families of ill children stay there FREE OF CHARGE. There are individual rooms, bathrooms and a common kitchen always loaded with staples that folks can use to prepare their meals. The Loma LInda Children's Hospital is right across the street so the families of children who are very ill or sadly dying have a place to stay in close proximity to their children. No money is EVER paid by them for anything. If/when I strike it rich I will contribute as many millions as I can afford to building more houses. Helping children are my thing m2c. Thank you for your reply! :)
