Is voting crossover as good or better than voting for your guy vis a vis screwing the opposition to win the election?

Dirty tricks are multiplying. Panick is setting in. Anything and everything to win. EVERYTHING IS ON THE TABLE. NO EXCEPTIONS. If threat don't work sabotage might. If that doesn't work there is always murder. Plenty of weaponized wackaddodle crackpots waiting for dog signal.

    If someone votes in the primary of the party they normally oppose just because they think a certain candidate is the easiest to beat then they get what they deserve if that candidate ends up winning.  People need to choose the best person in whichever party's primary they choose to vote.

    I just don't get the American system. Why does anyone not a Democrat even have the right to an opinion on who the candidate should be, never mind a vote?
    Down here, only registered members of a political party get to choose that party's candidates. Failed candidates may run in their district as independents, but they rarely win. The Party with the most votes gets government, its leader becomes the Prime Minister. You don't actually get to vote for the PM, just your local candidate for that party (unless you live in the party leader's home town - and even then you're voting for him to represent you in your district alone).

    Varies by state. Many have closed elections. (Must be registered with the party to vote in their primary)

    Some will then allow Independents to vote in party of their choices primary. 

    Others allow people to change their party that day to vote. (NH)

    Others have a amount of time before the primary you must be registered before the primary. 

    Other are open primaries (mine) you go in and tell the worker which party ballot you want.

    States rights are in charge of elections so each one makes their own rules.
