Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Y'all ARE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN NOT USE THEM AS POLITICAL PAWNS TO MAKE A POINT. WHAT THE HE** IS WRONG WITH YOU?
Being slightly flippant here... but I've never used my kids as political pawns.. I used to take my daughter to parish council events when she was very young.. but I think she enjoyed that
At a meeting about gun safety or something a grandfather took his 11 year old grand daughter with him. She was carrying an AR 15 over her shoulder. She just stood there silently, armed. I asked a question about it Tuesday Addb. I am disgusted and appalled at the despicable people who do that. Those who drag their kids with them to a dumb don hate fest he calls a rally. They are vile evil crackpots who don't have a clue what being a loving parent/grandparent is. SHAME ON ALL OF THEM. They are contemptible in my opinion. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday! :)
One of the problems with our current political climate is old conventions about things which were considered "non-political" have broken down.
For example, the integrity of voting was an agreed-upon non-partisan goal. It didn't always manifest in practice, but the consensus across the ideological spectrum was that everyone having a chance to vote was a Good Thing. This is no longer true, particularly on the political right where keeping voter turnout low is explicit political strategy.
Another example was that Senate filibusters were to be invoked in only the most extreme I'll-die-on-this-hill situations. Then after the Democratic Party captured the House and Senate in 2006, the GOP decided filibusters were to be routinely employed to block any and all legislation.
I am not clear what example of recent politicization of children you are speaking of, but it likely follows the pattern I described above.

I asked a question about it on Tueday SP. At a meeting about gun safety or gun rights a grandfather took his 11 year old granddaughter with him. She carried an AF15 over her shoulder. She stood there silently by his side. Contemptible deplorable disgusting hateful in my opinion as are those who drag their children to the dumb don hatefests he labels "rallies". The AR15 slung over an 11 year old shoulder. Being used like that? Just the tip of the iceberg. What chance do such children have of ever growing up straight and pure and innocent of hate when they are constantly being thrown right in the center of the abyss? SIGH. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday! :)
