To keep out the serfs.

This is a Feudal society and they are the lords of the manor.

And it is to keep out the jealous and violent as well.  It is a two-edged sword and is a very heavy burden this enmassed wealth.  I wouldn't want to handle that power.  

Not I.  Too much.  Too pink.  TOO PINK.   I like soft pink.  Not headache pink. I want to be mildly rich, not insanely wealthy.  That is a real insect by the way, isn't that bizarre?
