It's by hierarchy... I'm not sure how to explain this the best way, but let me try with the hierarchy tree below...

    0

    1

    1.1

    1.1.1

    1.1.2

    1.2.

    1.2.1

    1.2.2

    1.3

    ...

    2

    2.1

    2.1.1

    ...

    0 will be the first reply/comment to a post/question.

Thank  you for your reply SH. Apologies but I still don't understand it. When I hit "reply" to a specific answer doesn't it retain it's connection to that answer? Are all "reply" buttons alike and interchangeable? It seems to me they should each carry a signature that is exclusive to the  specific answer. Happy Friday! :)

If you hit the reply button under the comment it will go into the hierarchy of that specific thread inside the question. It would be easier if I knew which question and what happened. Hmm.

    Happy Friday, Rosie!

It has happened before m'dear but today it seems that all my replies are collecting in one place and not where they belong. I always use a person's name in every reply so he/she will know to whom the reply is directed.  Otherwise it would be chaotic I think. Thank you for your help though SH. It's not your fault that I don't understand it! :)

  • Your initial hit of the 'reply' button can cause your reply to display at the top of the current page and appear out of order.  A refresh or reload of the page should sort the reply into its proper slot.

A link to these questions could help a moderator or member with HTML knowledge diagnose the problem a little easier.

Your comment will go under whichever comment you hit reply to. But it will go under any comments that were made to it before you made your reply. The number by your comment will be on lower than the comment you replied to.

    Original Answer.

    ...1. Comment to OA
    ...1. Comment to OA
......2. Comment to 2nd comment to OA
    ..........3. Comment to the 2.
    ...1. Comment to OA
......2. comment to the 1 above it.
...1. Your new comment to OA will go below all of the above

You have to follow the numbers to keep up with the comments.
