Do you know what look I get on my face when searching for online images using the keywords "black people" and only getting black and white photos of white people?

Probably like the guy in the second row on the far right.

Or is that just the face you make when you realize that Google knows the white chick gets more relevant results while searching for black people. lol

Google tries to give you things it thinks are relevant to you based on your history. I would venture to guess Google already knows you're black and if you search for "people," it will give you photos of black people. If you wouldn't mind, humor me and we'll see if Google gets race. Look what I get when I type "people" and see if you have more ethnicities.

The only other thing I can guess is that you're a lover of black and white photos and Google knows it, so it assumes you're looking for more of them. At any rate, your question made me snort. Thank you. :)

That would certainly be in keeping with a concretistic reasoning style. :-)

    That's not the point.

Or more to the point, it correlates to manner in which the algorythyms label photos than the number, type, and percentage of available photos in the search pattern that correctly fit the requested parameters.

IOW, Google (in particular) will progressively narrow your range of choices in searches based on the kind of images/links you've clicked in the past.  In this manner it limits the scope of information you receive.  The only way around it is to use a metasearch engine or dump your cookies (to Google) every now and then.

  • Well, search for "European People Art". What do you think you would get?

    https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS571US571&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=european%20people%20art

I'm guessing google programmers are really messing with people.

I'm aware. It will still be the first thought I got when reading your question. Not skin colour or anything else but the black and white photos. ;-)

I don't dislike black and white photos at all. When I'm searching for specific subject matter, however, and I get its opposite, that's what my point is.

Who's looking for Europeans? Is the wording of
    my question THAT confusing?

I know Randy, and it is annoying. Personally I try to change my search words when it happens. But annoying, yus.

Btw, have you tried making the same search when browsing incognito? I get almost the same result as JA. Most disturbing picture will be Trump among them. Wonder why he makes it inside the black people, hmm. ;-)
