    He was on the verge of quitting anyway, as he is partially disabled and can no longer climb ladders or do heavier lifting, so they had him do light work. He is now recieving his Army Reserve pension and SS, so he will be OK.

    Yes. 

    I understand why he quit, he's in his sixties. I guess we all have to assess our own personal risk to make the best decision.
